I love the colors for his week's The Play Date Cafe challenge, PDCC 120. It uses baby blue, orangesicle, and basil, which is basically the same triad I used in my January 22, 2012, Hello Sunshine card. Isn't that cool! Anyway, with such a refreshing palette and Spring break right around the corner, I decided to go with a beach theme. I started with a baby blue note card base, and attached a basil seashell mat that I made with a Martha Stewart punch set and a sheet from her Travel mat pad. Then, I made another mat with a Fiskars Cinnamon Stick sheet, on which I wrote the word "Aloha" on the bottom left hand corner with a blue Hunt Painters marker. I edged it with a leaf green Clearsnap ink pad before attaching it. Next, I tore out a scrap of map print paper to make the third mat. I used an Aegean blue Clearsnap ink pad to edge it, as well as the note card. I love origami, so I decided to make an orangesicle bathing suit that I found in a book by Mickey Baskett. I embellished it with a raffia bow and star remnant punch, and attached it to the map mat. To bring out the orangesicle, I stitched the corners of the seashell mat with raffia. I also added some mother of pearl buttons with the raffia on the bottom, right hand corner. To enhance the asymmetrical design, I curved the upper right hand corner.
