Thanks

Black and white with a hot pink "Color Splash" is the theme of this weeks' The Play Date Cafe Challenge PDCC119.  Although I believe that real men wear pink, and can design cards too, at first I was a little baffled by this challenge.  However, I am an artist, so color is my game.

After sketching a couple of designs, I  knew what I wanted to do.  I started with a black American Crafts tri-fold card base.  I cut a square from a sheet of cross-word puzzle print, rounded the corners, edged it with a black ink pad, and pasted it on the card's left hand panel.  Then, I made a 2"x2" hot pink card stock mat and enhanced the corners with an EK Success punch.  I drew a miniature Zentangle tile horizon scene inside the mat with a black Sakura Micron 05 pen.  I attached it to the card with foam dots.  Next, I made a dragon fly with wire, glass beads, and organza ribbon strips.  Although I added eyes and a snout to my design, there is a similar one in a book by Kate MacFadyen.  I attached it to the card with a strip of foam.  Finally, I used a Dymo embosser to type the word "Thanks," and attached it to the card.

My wife and youngest daughter can be my harshest art critiques, and they both liked my card.  Hopefully you will too.  I invite you to follow my blog and let me know what you think - Blessings!
