On Saturday, March 17th, I posted my original paper cut collage titled "He Has Risen!" as my entry to The Play Date Cafe challenge. I love the way the piece came out, so I decided to use the image for this week's Card Positioning Systems, challenge CPS #258, which is sponsored by The Stamps of Life. However, I wanted to use a different color scheme and media.
In order to accomplish my vision, I used the ToonPAINT app in my iPhone to turn a photograph of the collage into a coloring page. This is the same app I used to create the self-portrait in my profile picture. You can colorize the images with-in the app. However, I chose to print the black and white image on white card stock and used a combination of Caran d'Ache water soluble wax pastels and Staedtler watercolor brush markers to illustrate it. This technique gave a little more depth to my piece.
The CPS sketch this week is very simple, so it is just perfect to feature a miniature piece of art. I used a hunter-green photo frame notecard by Personal Stamp Exchange for the base. I layered a series of 3 Martha Stewart white stars with green iridescent sequences and tacked them down with Sulyn Industries lime glass E-beads for the bottom corner embellishment. Then, I used the upper horizontal bar in the sketch to letter the exclamation "He is Risen!" and a series of dots with a green ZIG Writer chalk pen. I finished the card by framing my piece of art.
