Let The Children Come To Me
Hola! ¡Hello! It's been emotionally difficult for me lately, with everything going on around the world, so I feel blessed for the children in my life at my church, parochial school, and in my family who bring me hope for the future.
My first project was inspired by Sunday Postcard Art "Playtime" and Time Out Challenge 305 Favorite Technique. I remembered all the times my students, my children, and now my grandson have asked to go play outside when we couldn't, for whatever reason. My response, just like Kanga's, in A.A. Milne's book, The House at Pooh Corner, was, "we'll see." I recently got the new Spellbinder's Kanga & Roo cutting dies, so felt they were the perfect for this postcard. I used a black marker to do the landscape sketch and lettering, which are 2 of my favorite techniques.
Next, I'm sharing 1 of 2 Valentine's Day cards I made for my daughters, inspired by CAS#300 Food, SOS566 Love Me Do, and FMS #721 by Jen M. I used Viviquen's Mexico scrapbook paper and assorted pieces of solid colored cardstock; a We R'Memory Keepers flower border punch; a Spellbinder's Sip Sip Olé cutting dies set; an EK Success Heart Punch; a Sizzix Tim Holtz Vintage Labels Thinlits set; an Arteza calligraphy marker; a black marker; colored pencils; chalk, and assorted adhesives.

ReplyDeleteThis is another wonderful art post Ronaldo. Kanga is very cute. You have to love Pooh. I'd love one of those pretty drinks too, but it's too early yet. :) And your portraits are wonderful. That poor boy, spending time in the detention facility. I know he wanted his backpack and his hat back because I guess he doesn't have them now. Which is even sadder. Hi Arnoldo, there are many things happening right now that make no sense to me. I don't understand why people cannot work together for the good of everyone on this earth. For now we'll have to be the ones that do good things and hope that is an example to others. By the way loving your art work X
ReplyDeleteMy dear friend. I am taken by each and every piece of art you created but the last one brought me to tears. I beautiful tribute to Liam Conejo Ramos. The bible passage is very fitting. His little face will be marked on our heats for all time. The drawing is thoughtful and so well observed. Your 5 minute sketch is also amazing. I do think these warm ups are beneficial. I do love the goat skull too. The I love you card is so traditional with a spark of contemporary. Most beautiful. And your Roo card is fitting for our times. I have always admired your art and I thank you so much for joining FFO, SITAR and all they joy you bring. Have a wonderful weekend.
ReplyDeleteShalom to you! I appreciate your comment a while back. My husband of 40 Years is in hospice care with level 7 dementia and other conditions. We were blessed with such a close relationship! And of course, world/US events are some troubling. But I dare to hope. I think that affairs are changing. Just taking a day at a time with my husband. Each day could be our last, or this could go on for months. Very challenging. Only by staying in the present and gratitude to God am I getting through it. I do feel so grateful for my life! ReplyDeleteYour drawing of little Liam is a beautiful tribute. Detaining this little boy and using him as bait was such a disgusting thing to do - how far has this country sunk, how much further will it go? I don't understand how people can still support this. I guess they have lost their morality and humanity.
ReplyDeleteI am so taken by your portrait of Liam Conejo Ramos ... I have been trying to follow his case, but not much has been said on the news. What is in the heart of a man who would treat a child like this ... or treat anyone for that matter. We are surrounded by people who have lost sight of their own goodness and have allowed evil to dictate their actions.

ReplyDeleteI'm so happy you submitted your wonderful projects to the current Everybody Art Challenge. They're all so admirable, each in its own way. But what impressed me most was the portrait of the little boy. You captured his expression perfectly.
ReplyDeleteThe kangaroo is great too. I love that fantastic die-cut and the text you added. It's so true to life. I think it would resonate with so many situations in our everyday lives.
The drink is wonderful as well – the card radiates a certain lightness and joy. I'd love to have such a delicious drink tonight. But it's still winter, so I'll have to wait. Your beautifully designed card is already making me look forward to it.
