A Flower, Circles and Numbers

As I was surfing the net a week or so ago, I stumbled upon The Stamp Man, which is sponsored by a craft material retailer out of the United Kingdom.  They apparently have bi-weekly challenges for various types of arts and crafts.  Their current challenge involves the use of a Bingo Card, so you have to choose 3 elements in a row from the bingo card to design anything you want.  I chose the central horizontal line, which included Flowers-Circle-Numbers, and worked on a page in my new art journal.

I started by writing a series of years and a Bible verse in the background with a green Marvy Le Plume marker (Numbers).  Then, I sketched a self-portrait with a sepia Pentel Color Brush, and ligthly shaded random areas of the paper with green, blue and red pastels (Circles).  Next, I cut out a couple of images from some Maryjo Koch collage pages, and coordinated them with some used USA postage stamps (Flower and more Numbers).  I arranged my collage elements in a flowing composition that draws the eye around the page.  To help enhance the cohesion of my page, I stamped a compass image in three different areas (More Circles).  As a finishing touch, I taped down a strip of vintage rick-rack to the bottom edge of my page.

This was a fun and relaxing challenge!  I can't wait to see what other participants create.  Blessings!

Truly FAB! I like how you sketched your eyes. Fun that you have included used postage, and that rose in the middle!!
