R is for… "Remember My Workdesk?"

Greetings!  Time does fly, and before I realized it, my bi-weekly post turned into a tri-weekly post.  My professional schedule continues to be hectic, plus I had additional personal commitments too.  Therefore, I got off schedule.  Please accept my apologies.

Autumn Reflection
Caran d'Ache, Pens, Charcoal, and More
Art Journal Journey - Autumn Colors
Kristin & Eva's Paint Party Friday - Week 36 Year 5
Kim's Show Your Face
Julie's Art Journal Everyday
Alexandra's Sunday Sketches
I had not had a chance to work on my art journal, so this weekend I took a break to work on a page.  I found this quote by Juan Ramón Jiménez about changes, which I found quite inspirational.  In case you are not familiar with Jiménez, he is the Spanish writer who received the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1956 for his lyrical poetry.  One of my favorite books of his is Platero y Yo (Platero and I), which is a charming monologue of a man with his silver colored donkey.

Try It On Tuesday: Lots of Layers
Although I have not had time to work on my art journal, I have made several cards for family and friends, including the two above.  The second one is for Mike, one of my best friends.  We will both be celebrating our birthdays this week over dinner.  Him and his wife are in the process of selling their house in town, so this may be the last time we will be able to do that for a while.  We have shared lots of ups and downs for nearly 16 years, so it will be a bittersweet celebration.

Happy Birthday, Abby!

Julia's What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday #336
I do not consider myself a scrapbooker.  However, I have enjoyed preserving special memories through my Smash Folio for a little over a year.  In this page, I tried to capture our trip to Texas A&M University, during which we celebrated my youngest daughter's birthday a couple of weeks ago.  She is a beautiful, smart and good natured young lady whom my wife and I consider to be a true blessing.  Although it rained almost continuously during the 3 days we were there, our spirits were never dampened.

In closing, I leave you with another fascinating creation of God which I found in my garden.  Thank you for your visit, for following my blog, and for taking the time to leave a comment.  Blessings!

You have inspired me to pull that Smashbook out of my closet. It was purchased over 4 years ago and never ever opened. It will be no where near as lovely as yours. I don't even know how to start. If you decide to come see mine I am going to add the link so it doesn't get lost in the bloggyness of my day. http://www.mariasspace.com/2015/11/abc-oh-rats-unlikely-pet-friends.html

Fantastic work - I love the journal page and the quote is beautiful, is that a self portrait or is it Jimenez - it's perfectly drawn anyway! I love the card with the little doily - the background faces are intriguing. Although the spider made me shudder(I was conditioned from a very young age!) I am learning to love them! It's a long, hard journey but I think this one is stunning, and I know if would be easier to get over my fear if they all looked this beautiful! Hope you have a great week and thanks for the visit to my blog - I appreciate it.

I will confess that I found your spider to be stunning. I love orb weavers of all kinds, sadly I didn't have many in my gardens this year. I'm not all together sure why either?? Your journal looks so creative and your cards are wonderful.

Hi Arnoldo! any excuse my friend! I don't know how you manage what you do. I can't imagine having tried to blog when I was teaching. By the time I got home, fed round, did the homework and got ready for the following day I was ready for bed so I think you do really well.
Have a great woyww and happy crafty week, Angela x 21

That's a great quote! I think I will make a note of it :)
And it looks good on that page too. Your daughter's page is lovely too! Everyone looks so happy.
I bought the Spectrum Noir Brights set, so there are no neutral colours amongst them :) (I am using them to "colour in" my own designs.)
Thanks for visiting earlier too.

So much here to admire, Arnoldo.
I love that you make cards for friends and family and I'm sure they are much appreciated. I do like the card for Mike and the brilliant way you have presented it with the rusty bits. It's sad when an old friend moves away.
Yes, the spider is fantastic, with such an appropriate name. Insects and moths can be so beautiful with amazing colours and designs.

Love the man's face and the lovely cards! Even though you are not a scrapbooker, you did do a wonderful job of telling the story of your family in your smashbook. That spider is beautiful in it's own way too. We had one outside my window where I wash dishes and I named her Charlotte.
