M is for Mistakes

I have made, and will probably continue to make, a plethora of mistakes throughout my life.  Some mistakes were by pure accident, and the circumstances were beyond my control.  Some mistakes were due to foolishness, and were made because I was either in a hurry, not thinking, or not being cautious.  A few mistakes were made when I knew better, and proceeded anyway.  However, in all cases, I believe the most important thing is the way I handled them.

Accidental mistakes are bound to happen.  Therefore, I believe it is a matter of standing back up, dusting myself off, and moving forward.  As the Bible says in Psalm 37:24, "Though he fall, he shall not be cast headlong, for the Lord upholds his hand."

I know foolish mistakes can always be prevented.  That is why I try to be cognizant of everything I do.  However, when I make them, I always remember what my parent told me as a child, "What did you learn from this?"

Deliberate mistakes are harder to handle.  Honesty, repentance, and amends are always necessary.  As found in Proverbs 28:13, "Whoever conceals his transgressions will not prosper, but he who confesses and forsakes them will obtain mercy."

In closing, I want to make a disclosure.  I believe mistakes can be beneficial.  Mistakes can help us grow, molding us to become better and wiser persons.  Mistakes, like those made during creative endeavors or the scientific process, can also lead to innovation.  Anyway, thank you for following my blog and for your thoughtful comments.  Most importantly, thank you for your friendships.  Blessings!

Oh my goodness! Mistakes, I've made a few...isn't that a song? But with each one I have learned something. The latest mistake brought me to this new home with my beloved Tegan and thank the Lord, I'm finally at peace. Of course, I might make more mistakes, but thankfully, God gave me faith in Him, perseverance, and a good sense of humour! I plan to make the most of the future He allows me. Thank you for being a fellow mighty warrior in the Lord and a virtual friend. I love your philosophy of life (as I read it here) and you are one lucky man to have such a great family of which you write with such deep love.

I've said recently in my blog that mistakes, and dealing with same, define who we are.

Mistakes are only grave mistakes if harm someone or if we don't profit from them by learning a better way.

Mistakes are ment to be made my friend.... they're the biggest opportunities we can get to learn... for the better ore the worse... It also makes us aware of how life can be in a bad way, and therefore learn us to appreciate the more beautiful things.

A wonderful post for me this morning, Arnoldo, thank you for your thoughts! I enjoyed looking at your creations as I read down through it, too. Thanks for sharing these and entering this week's Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge!

I think making mistakes helps us to understand when friends do the same.

I don't know anybody who doesn't make mistakes. I am always glad when other people make mistakes, because then I think:" great I am not the only one who makes mistakes.!"
Your post is an eyeopener as always. Thank you for writing it and sending it in.
Have a blessed week!

I agree, we learn from our mistakes, probably even the mistakes we make on purpose. I am so thankful our Lord is a forgiving God. "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and o cleanse us from all unrighetousness" I John 1:9
Your Blog is always like a mini devotional given very tastefully. :)
BTW your calligraphy is very pretty. Thanks for sharing it and your thoughts. #52

I've made a few mistakes in my life, the biggest one was to befriend a girl who's husband had left her with two small children...
she repaid my kindness by having an affair with my then husband, who I subsequently divorced.
This was a good thing in the end, because I met and married my husband, we've been married now for almost 29 years. He's been a wonderful husband too...

No MISTAKE there then Arnoldo!

Lovely thought provoking post and again some MARVELOUS art work,

Blessings to you my friend,

Inspiring post...we all do it and must learn from them! I LOVE the art here...the script writing...so gorgeous, and love the card for your mom, so inspiring!
Beautiful cards and thought provoking post. I have kind of grown to embrace mistakes, they refine us and let the light in don't they?
Happy Creative week to you!

Another great post Arnoldo. I believe that making mistakes is what proves we are humans and it's how we deal with them and learn from them that matters. Thanks for the visit to mine. Happy crafty belated woyww, Angela x 24

We all make mistakes. The way to grow is to recognize that we made one and vow not to repeat it. It is hard sometimes. But I appreciate your honesty and the courage to put it out for the world to see. Thanks for sharing. Beautiful art too.
Your words are on point and mistakes make us more versatile if we acknowledge em. Your yellow flower card is very pretty and awesome sauce. The sentiment is so very true. Wonderful and fantabulous design!

I always enjoy my visits to your blog...what an inspiring post. Thank you, God, for being a forgiving God!

Your cards are all beautiful, but I am here with my Anything but Cute hat on to say your Etegami card is just amazing with it's coloring and gorgeous lined drawing. Is that hand drawn or a stamp? Either way, it's lovely.

Thank you for joining our Earth Day Challenge at Anything But Cute. Hugs! Sara Emily DT

PS Samra's description asks us to list what inspired us from her mood board. If you get a moment could you add something about that, please?

I love your post today for several different reasons. Your words make me think, which is good. The mistakes we do in spite knowing better are the hardest ones to overcome. Luckily with age they decrease in number.
Your hand lettering is stunningly beautiful and I love your etegami. How fun that you really gave them a try.

Mistakes are a part of life and of being a human being. I favor what your parents taught. Truthfully, I learn a lot this way. It is also to take the lessons seriously, lightly and a sense of humor helps. I enjoyed visiting today. Have a lovely week.

You are so right in what you say about mistakes, Arnoldo. In the Bible, in the original Hebrew, there are several different words for "sin" and relate to the deliberate, the unintentional, etc., and how we deal with them is different as you say. We are so blessed that God promises His forgiveness when we repent. He knows we will continue to make mistakes and to sin deliberately because we are fallen beings, but His grace is everlasting! I love your beautiful art works (each so different in style) expressing your thoughts at the moment on this subject.

Thank you for your lovely comment - I am now fully recovered and can only think it was a 24-hour minor inner ear infection or something like that. Horrible while it lasted but soon over! Phoebe's bloods came back normal, and the vet has increased her dose slightly and we'll see how she gets on. The decorating is now finished and I am thrilled with how it came out - seeing my vision becoming a reality is marvellous and it couldn't be better. We still have a few things to bring back in but we are using it again and loving the new uncluttered feel.

We've had an extremely busy couple of days because as well as the decorating and other odd jobs being done, the men came at very short notice yesterday to replace our blown double glazed units with nice new clear ones, and we had to move at high speed to clear the rooms ready for them. I am therefore very behind with all my WOYWW comments as I didn't have any time to be on the computer yesterday.

Happy belated WOYWW,
Shoshi #28

nice work on the challenges arnoldo, and interesting topic on mistakes, not a word I like to face.
I always tell the kids at school that you learn more from your mistakes than from getting it right the first time. No mistakes in your art this week. Its all well done and beautiful. :)

I LOVE all your art this week...so beautiful and heartfelt. I agree with this post...and I always ask people " what did you learn from that?" Smart parents! Mistakes help us grow. This is such a well written post! Sometimes we even have happy mistakes...Every successful person I have ever read about said all their failures were stepping stones to their success and without them would be no success!! It's come up a lot lately too!! Blessings to you...may you have more happy mistakes than anything else!

I always love reading the reflections that you write with your artwork - you are so profound!

I couldn't agree more that we all make mistakes but it's what we learn from them that counts.

Thank you for sharing your talents with us each week at Inspire Me Monday at Create With Joy. I'm delighted to feature you at our upcoming party, #223, this Sunday! :-)
