An Art Smorgasbord

I had a very busy week with lots of different influences, hence my art smorgasbord for the week - LOL!  What's new, right?

Hand lettered and Doodled Art Journal Pages
Colored Pencils, Micron Pens, & Markers
Julie's Art Journal Everyday
Lorik's Mandarin Orange Monday #99
Denise, Roger and Leslie's ABC Wednesday - Y is for You
Julia's What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday #265
Karen's Word Art Wednesday #139
Maria's Orange You Glad It's Friday
Dion's Friday Sketches #18
Manon's Paper Saturdays
Alexandra's Sunday Sketches
This week we hosted Vacation Bible School at my Church, and I was asked to be in charge of storytelling.  As part of my personal daily preparation, I took a Bible verse from the lessons in the curriculum to do some doodling in my art journal.  They helped me focus, enhanced my understanding of the stories, helped trigger my creativity, and allowed me to practice my Lindsay Ostrom inspired lettering.

Paper Piecing, Die, Punch & Hand Lettering
Freshly Made Sketches # 142 - by Jennifer B.
Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge - Anything Goes
Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge - W is for White
With a couple of birthdays coming up, I was also inspired to make these colorful birthday cards with a white accent cupcake band.  You may recognize the Tim Holtz Umbrella Man die, whom I altered and gave him a couple of balloons to make him look more festive.  Last summer, I gave him a flag for a piece inspired by the techniques of Tim Holtz 12 Tags of 2013, which you can see here.

Happy 4th of July!
Americana Collection Vignette
Ramona's Inspire Me Monday #130
Bella's 52 Photos Project - Gallery 9 {Sitting by the Window}
Eva & Kristin's Paint Party Friday - Week 17 Year 4
On Saturday, I was inspired to put together a 4th of July vignette around a line drawing of my Church, which was done on a vintage window by Sarah Maxwell, a good family friend.  I used a vintage USA Flag; a hand painted plate of the Statue of Liberty that I did a couple of years ago; handmade wood cuts by May Carsten, another family friend; a hand thrown plate by Nancy O'Brien, another family friend; a small Steinbach Uncle Sam Nutcracker from my private collection; my tag collection on a vintage oil can birch tree branch arrangement; a star hartstone cookie mold; a handmade paper cut; and some votive holders.  I believe I captured the spirit of this important holiday.

Hope you enjoyed my art smorgasbord - LOL!  I want to thank everyone who took the time to leave such thoughtful comments in my last post, as well as everyone who is following my blog.  Blessings!

Can imagine that they put you in charge of story telling:):) You do it all the time, on your blog! The first pic caught my eye, because it tells of God's love - and He wants to have a relationship with each of his children (so opposite from appeasing an angry deity!!)

Arnoldo,
Your art journal is truly amazing. It makes me want to do one so I think I shall. I hope pencil crayons and a few gel pens will suffice to start. Anyway I shall go back and gaze some more. The Word Art Wednesday team appreciate seeing the inspirational and wonderful project pages you’ve posted today.

I admire your versatility and how you seem to shine with any style or aesthetic. I thought your bible journal pages were simply incredible and I liked the inspiration to doodle to increase understanding. Great idea and something that I will definitely need to try!
