Memories can evoke a whole gamma of human emotions, and can make us re-live events in our lives… even though they may not always be pleasurable ones. Photographs, drawings, and writing are a few of the ways in which I like to keep memories, as well as make new ones. The following is a sampling of the latter.
An Enlightening Moment Enhanced iPhone Shot Bella's 52 Photos Project - Gallery 5 {The Light Arrived} |
I took the photograph above last Easter weekend when my wife and I took my in-laws to a local wine place. It's walking distance from our home and has a very neighborly ambiance. They have a lush and beautiful garden where guests can sit, visit, and listen to local artists play live music. It's truly an oasis in the middle of the semi-desertic region in which we live in. When I saw the beautiful cross in their garden standing against the dreamy blues in the sky it was like an enlightening moment regarding the event that my family was about to celebrate the next day… the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ!

The 3 pages above are from one of my new passions and a marvelous way for me to preserve memorable moments, my Smash book. The first page is actually an insert I put together with tags, ephemera, and a photograph, all of which are related to our home Easter celebration. The second page is one I put together commemorating my youngest daughter's Senior Prom, which features a tuxedo tag pocket I designed and a poem I wrote for her. Finally, I have a page I put together to commemorate my oldest daughter's departure to her study abroad, and features a Zentangle Mandala I did for her.

Finally, I have three photographic montages of projects I worked on in preparation for memories to make. The first set features a cartoon of a graduate I drew, as well as the cards I made using prints of it for some high school graduates. The layout for the card was loosely inspired by Freshly Made Sketches' FMS#138. The second set has different views of a graduation pop-up card I made for my youngest daughter, featuring a card mechanism I learned from Michael Jacobs (See my recommendations), my calligraphy, and my cartoon. The last set features a tag and matching envelope I made for my wife's upcoming birthday, for which I used a food magazine page and other scraps.
I hope you enjoyed my memory inspired projects. I want to thank everyone who took the time to leave good wishes for my daughter who's away in Spain, as well as for my humble artistic offerings during my last post. Blessings!

I love your smash book. My fav craft is scrapbooking the life of my fearfully and wonderfully made T18 daughter. She is just going into nursery and it is exciting to think that i might be able to have a graduation card for her one day.
