K is for Kiss (+WOYWW & PPF)
The kiss, which can simply be defined as the gesture of touching with the lips, can convey a variety of feelings. It can be as simple as a greeting between friends. It can be a gesture of pure love and joy, as the tender kiss a parent gives his/her new born child. It can demonstrate passionate love between spouses, as the one described in the Song of Solomon. It can be bittersweet, as the kiss given to a loved one when saying goodbye. And, it can also be the kiss of death, as the one Judas gave Jesus before betraying him for 30 pieces of silver. Through out time, the Kiss has inspired artists of all genres such as Bob Carlisle and Randy Thomas, who wrote the father and daughter song, Butterfly Kisses; J. M. Barrie, who wrote about Wendy's innocent kiss in the children's literary classic, Peter Pan: and Auguste Rodin, who sculpted the adulterous couple in The Kiss. So when you hear someone say, "A Kiss Is Just A Kiss," remember that it can really be a lot more than touching with the lips.
I apologize for my absence last week, but I was overwhelmed with work. However, thank you for your visit and for leaving such thoughtful comments. Blessings!

Yet another touching and endearing post Arnoldo,
ReplyDeleteI love the card and the text.
Although the sculpture of The Kiss by Rodin, is of
an adulterous couple, I do find it rather appealing.
Glad you're back this week, I do enjoy your posts,
hope your work load has decreased now and you are
able to enjoy life again.
Best wishes,
Di,

What beautiful artwork. The detail you put into your pieces is awe-inspiring. The last kiss I received from my husband was a day after he died. A soft sweet breeze blew across my face, and then I felt his lips on mine. (sigh) I miss him so.
ReplyDeleteJust before I read your post, I got up and gave my husband a kiss. How nice to read your words after that. I do love this art. The cross is beautiful and I know created with love.
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend to you.
