It's hard to believe we are in the midst of the holiday season, with All Hallows Eve behind us, Thanksgiving Day this week, and Christmas about a month away. Time can certainly appear to go faster as we get older. I found several theories about the latter phenomenon in an article in the Scientific American Blog, which I found very interesting.

The first two have to do with how we gauge time by memorable events and how this is relative to our ages. For example, for a five year old, a year is 20% of his or her life, while for a 50 year old a year is only 2% of his or her life. Therefore, waiting for Christmas to come along, which can be a memorable experience, seems like a lifetime for a young child vs to an adult. (Yes, the older we get, the smaller the percentage. Sigh!)

Two other interesting theories have to do with a child vs an adult's perspectives. While a child may be anxiously counting down the days until Christmas, an adult may be focused on work, schedules, finances, family dynamics, house chores, planning trips, and shopping for Christmas. Therefore, the passage of time is slow for a child due to anticipation, while an adult may loose track of time due to the stressful plethora of responsibilities he or she may have.
Therefore, time does not literally go faster as we get older. However, we can slow it down by relaxing to take time to spend quality time with family and friends, enjoy nature, enjoy the arts, read, and praise the Lord for our blessings. I believe if we all did this, are world would be much more peaceful.
I want to hank everyone for stopping by, especially to my followers and everyone taking the time to leave a comment. Rather you are celebrating Thanksgiving Day or not, hope you have a blessed week. See you later - Hasta la vista!

When traveling with children..."Are we there yet?" No, we just left the driveway. HaHa.
I have to admit, I'm a bit of a child myself during the holidays...the anticipation of taking down my Fall decorations, and putting up Christmas. My friend gave me a Rod Stewart Christmas CD with the old songs....look forward to that, and of course all the traditional carols and songs.
Blessings to you and your loved ones.
I am always impressed by how you present your artwork, for example showing your pastel painting with the pastels, and the Christmas bells with the baubles. Your artwork is superb and the photo of the art in its setting gives a second artwork.
So all the more reason for enjoing every minute in as much as possible thankfulness and awareness of all the things we should be gratefull for.
Have a nice abc-day / -week

.What does one buy for a man who has everything ?
I guess some gift vouchers for his favourite pastime... Golf..
There sorted!
Inspiration sought and found at Arnoldo's!
Now, before more time passes,I'm off to his favourite,
on-line Golf Shop to secure his gift.
I could do with one of your delightful hand crafted gift tags,
maybe I shall make one myself whilst I have the time !
