W is for Wondrous

Hello friends!  ¡Hola amigos!  Summer is here, and it's a wondrous feeling!  I have several important tasks to take care of this summer, such as home repairs to be made, a professional licensing test to take, and work on a school district strategic planning committee.  However, I will also have time to travel to visit family, time to visit museums, time to interact with nature, time to read, and time to work in my art studio.  It's such a marvelously freeing and inspiring feeling to have some control over my daily schedule.  Anyway, the following are a few of the art projects I've been working on since my last post with a short description of my inspiration.

Flowers of Peace
Strathmore Toned Tan Artist Tile; Mechanical Pencil, Sakura Micron Pens; Uni Ball Air Pen; Royal Talen's Opaque Watercolors; and Prismacolor Colored Pencils.
Moo-Mania *** Masculine
Creating and Sharing Mixed Media Art
Julia's (& Jan's) What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday #367
Eva & Kristin's Paint Party Friday - Week 15 Year 6
Kim's Show Your Face
This tile was inspired by a quote by Tichh Nhat Hanh, a Buddhist Monk & Peace Activist, "In the garden of my heart the flowers of peace bloom beautifully."

Beach Garden Wedding Card
Brother Scan'N Cut; We R Memory Keepers Alphabet Punch; Paper Flowers; Glass Beads; Distressing Ink Pad; Kraft Card Base; Various Cardstock; Jute Cord; Various Types of Adhesive; and a UniBall Air Pen.
Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge - Summer Garden
This greeting card was inspired by a fellow teacher and friend of mine who loves flamingos and is having a beach garden wedding in just a couple of weeks.

Deuteronomy 23:12-13
iPhone 6S Shot Edited on iPhoto
Our Beautiful World: OBW 151~Texture
Sue's Image-In-Ing
Karen's Word Art Wednesday: Challenge Week #234-235
I took a field trip with my students to a Christian camp, and was intrigued by the Scriptural reference on the outhouse.  It refers to Halakha, Jewish law, on the proper way to relieve oneself.

Father's Day Card
Tim Holtz (TH) Travel Ways, Warehouse District, and Odds and 100th Collection Stamps; TH Distress Inks; TH Gadget Gears, Mini Gears, and Mini Tickets Dies; Glossy Accents; Adirondack Gold Dabber; Various Brads; Various Adhesives; Manila Tag; Kraft Card Base; Silver Metallic Cardstock; Uni Ball Air Pen; and Scrap Ribbon.
Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge - Father's Day
The Male Room Challenge #37 - Father's Day
Ramona' Inspire Me Monday - Week 232

This card is for my Father-in-law, whom I love dearly.  Although he is not known for working on his cars, he is an engineer.  Therefore, I thought the gears were appropriate.

In Memory of Muhammed Ali
Art Journal and Mechanical Pencil
Alexandra's Sunday Sketches
Try It On Tuesday: It's All About Him
Denise & Roger's ABC Wednesday - Letter W
This sketch, which is a work in progress, was inspired by the late Muhammed Ali.  Although I've never been into boxing, I always admired his personal strength and determination.

As you can see through my work, this Summer has been a wondrous journey thus far.  I hope yours is as wondrous as well.  Thank you for following my blog and taking the time to leave a gracious comment.  Godspeed!  ¡Vayan con Dios!

I like your cards so much, and the picture of the outhouse at the Christian camp I LOVE. We have a number of pictures of outhouses around and about our house. Being that Buddy hiked the AT and hikes and runs races all the time, outhouses have a special to me. I thought of you when the tragedy happened in Orlando because of the in depth writings you have shared with us over the months. As you can now tell, your thoughts and feeling have had a deep effect upon me. I was an English teacher fro years (taught 54 years) so can appreciate your looking forward to your control of time and what you do during the summer months. I wish you a wonderful art filled summer. genie

Love the flamingos! I have a bit of an ongoing joke with a friend, and that would be a perfect way to carry on the tradition!

Hmmm what comes to my mind first....

Do you take enough time 'off' to take good care of yourself?
Life itself can be overwhelmingly busy..and one forgets to easily to truly live and enjoy the littlest things which in hindsight apear to be the most important of all.

Have a nice abcwednes-day / – week

Loving your designs, Arnoldo. I especially loved the flamingo. They're such lovely creatures.
Sounds like you will be keeping busy this summer. If it weren't for the triple digits here, I would also be out and about a lot more than I anticipate in the coming months ahead. I'm already looking forward to Fall and Winter. :)

Hi Arnoldo, great post again this week. I particularly like your Father's Day card. I know that at this time of the year you will be very busy so it's very good of you to visit us at the moment. I fully understand the feeling of freedom when the summer break starts that for a short time you can relax and enjoy other parts of your life. Not too long to wait now! So glad you're going to have a productive yet restful summer break. I'm so looking forward to my month-long trip to visit good friends in England and Wales...but sadly will not be on ABCW for that time. But when I return I'm sure I'll have lots of stories and photos to show everyone. Take care, my friend, and thank you so much for your kind words regarding my recent loss.

I hear you're having a heat wave. Hope it's not too bad for you.

You have lots of thought-provoking things to say this week Arnoldo. We often stifle people's imaginations. We stop people from dreaming and I used to teach young children who even at 5 years of age were stifled in every way. Some had to even be taught to play.Sad isn't it?
I love the sun image I am playing with at the moment.I have several drawings I want to develop.I might put them onto a small canvas to remind me to look up and see the "smiling sun".Thank you for your visit and gracious comment. I am humming the Beatles"Here Comes the Sun..." as I type!

Your art this week as always is beautiful, Arnoldo. I'm glad you will have more time this summer to enjoy family, friends, and art. I like your first image and quote so much. And the photo of the outhouse door was surprising. I thought I knew the Bible pretty well, but I have never seen this. I always enjoy seeing the calming thoughts of peace and love you show on your blog.

Happy summer! I can relate- the kids are done and I just have 2 teacher workdays left. I cannot wait. I am keeping my summer wide open this year, with the exception of a little travel planned for late July. But I am planning doing all kinds of little adventures along the way. Yours sounds like fun and I hope you share with us your fun. Love your art this week. Its very inspirational. Enjoy the beginning of your break. :) Erika
