The Widow & The Unjust Judge

Hello!  ¡Hola!  I had a busy week, between work, house chores, and other endeavors on my calendar.  Everything went well overall, thank God.  I also feel thankful to have my books and artwork to relax with in the evenings.

Winner For M is For Mythical Creatures
For my first project this week, I have a Hallow's Eve card I made for my oldest daughter, who loves the holidays.  I used the Sizzix's Pete Hughes Infinite Doodle's #1 & #2 to create the focal point.  I had so much fun seeing the cauldron and pumpkins come to life with all the little pieces.  I also used a Simon Say's Small Scalloped Circle die for the night sky background, and the Sizzix's Tim Holtz Poison embossing folder for the pink askew mat.  Finally, I used a couple of markers for the detailing and my hand lettered sentiment.

Next, I have a couple of characters I illustrated in one of my handmade art journals.  I used alcohol markers, water based markers, and colored pencils to render them.  I like the boy on the left side page, but the proportions o the man's head on the right side page are off.  But like I always have to remind myself, just enjoy the creative journey.  That makes it more fun!

Art Journal Journey - Halloween
For my last project, I have a page in another one of my hand made art journals of Toto, one of my 2 dogs.  I used Sizzix's Pete Hughes Build An Animal thinlits set; EK Success heart and maple leaf punches; and a generic pumpkin die cut to create the picture.  Then, I used Chatterbox's The Journaling Genie #7 Wedding stencil to lightly outline my text box.  I used different markers to write the text and add doodling details to complete my page.

In closing, I'd like to leave you with an excerpt from my sermon for tomorrow.  It is based on Jesus' parable about the widow and the unjust judge, found in Luke 18:1-8.  As an illustration regarding the parable, I'm telling my congregation the following true story:

Recently, a principal at a local public school, called the Head of School at our parochial school, to ask if we could do anything to help 10 homeless children attending his school.  As part of our program, all our students are involved in service projects, so they help with our meals on wheels ministry, raise money for St. Jude Children's Hospital, and other causes.  So, our Head of School spoke to the teachers, and our 3rd grade teacher chose to take up the project.  Her students collected appropriate food items, and put together food bags for the 10 homeless children.  They are now planning on collecting personal hygiene products for the homeless children.  That, my friends, is children serving as God’s hands to answer the prayers of a few of the widows of our time.

Thanks for your visit!  ¡Gracias por su visita!  Please leave a comment, and I will gratefully reciprocate by leaving a comment on your blog.  Blessings!  ¡Bendiciones!

I have heard remarkable things about the St. Jude Hospital! They do very good work! If I am not mistaken, was this begun by Danny Thomas and his daughter, Marlo, has done TV ads about this hospital!
Praise God for these places and events that help others, and thank you so much for being a part of this!
Your Hallow's Eve card is beautiful and fun! Lovely colours and details!
Your other creations are magnificent! Thank you so much for sharing your fine talent! God bless you, Arnoldo.

I'm so glad you are back on line and sharing your art because it is always such a pleasure to see. That little pup in your autumn scene is adorable. What a sweet Halloween page, and beautifully done too. Thanks for sharing these over at AJJ for Elle's challenge.

Hello,
Your art work is lovely and fun. I like the cute dog and the Halloween card. It is wonderful to help the homeless children. No child should go hungry in our country. Take care, enjoy your day and the week ahead.

I'm a bit late visiting, but still enthusiastic about your amazing post. First, it's great to read about the 10 homeless children. What great news.

Second, what a clever and fun journal page you have given us at AJJ using Elle's theme. It's adorable and so cute.

Third, you draw so well. I'm super impressed with your faces. And they work great for FFO, too!
