About that day and hour no one knows.

Hello!  ¡Hola!  Other than writing my sermon and a few work related tasks, I spent time away from home to visit family for Thanksgiving celebrations across the state of Texas.

The Nutcracker Joyful Christmas Card
Time Out Challenges #302 (Movie, White & Sparkle)
Inspiration Station Challenge November 2025 - Photo #79
What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday 860/80

I didn't have much time in my art studio, but manage to squeeze in a couple of projects.  For the Christmas card above, I used Gemini's by Crafter's Companion, The Nutcracker & Friends dies set; various scraps of kraft, red, black, sparkling gold, and white card stock for the figure; Fabllewavi's Black & White Christmas Scrapbook paper for the background; a tab punch; various adhesives; a black marker to draw the stitch lines and a gold metallic marker to write the sentiment.  (BTW, I saw a movie version of the Nutcracker, but there's no comparison to seeing it performed life at a theater.)
For my second project, I have a postcard I illustrated in one of my handmade art journals.  I began by making crisscross water color markings for my background.  When dry, I used a Craspire Vintage Postcard clear stamp to imprint the postcard outline.  Then, I sketched the postage stamp image and the eye using black markers.  Finally, I quoted Jesus, when he said, "Do not weep for me; weep for yourselves and for your children," from Luke 23:28.  (BTW, I want to thank Sunday Postcard Art for choosing my Mona Lisa as one of their 3 favorites last week.)
For my last project, I have a photograph of my 2 grandchildren and me during one of our roadtrip stops this week.  They're such a joy to be around.  I superimposed the text from Proverbs 17:6, "Grandchildren are the crown of the aged, and the glory of children is their parents."  I am so thankful for the blessing of having these two be part of my life.  (BTW, I want to thank Nicole at FFO, for also featuring my Mona Lisa.)

In closing, I want to leave you with an excerpt from the sermon I wrote for this coming Sunday, during which will be observing the First Sunday of Advent:

Jesus said that we're to “keep awake” and to “be ready.”  Therefore, we must pray without ceasing; study the Bible in fellowship; share God’s word with others through our words and actions; love inclusively just like Jesus; forgive each others sins; feed the hungry, quench the thirst of those who need water, welcome the migrant, clothe the naked, care for the sick, and visit those in prison; and strive for justice and peace amongst all people.  None of these practices will diminish life, but intensify it, heighten its value, and deepen its meaning.  So never loose hope to the possibility of the impossible; to life and more life; and to be whom God created us to be, for about that day and hour no one knows.

Thanks for visiting!  ¡Gracias por visitarme!  Shalom!

Happy Saturday Arnoldo! Lovely photo of you and your sweet grandchildren. I can see how happy they make you. What a lovely card with the nutcracker. It's one of my favourite stories and I hope one day to go to the ballet and see it. I did read the story last year and it was actually scary in a way. I have many nutcrackers at home and love them. I really love your postcard! Wow the words, the writing and the colours and the eye. so beautiful! Have a lovely weekend and all the very best! Blessings to you and your family.

Hello, Reverend! Thank you for your comment on my blog. I loved your PicassoLisa! And this is a poignant heartfelt piece this week, full of the Good Word. The photo of you and your grandchildren is adorable and they are precious indeed. I too am Episcopalian, christened and confirmed in the church at Trinity Episcopal in Baytown with the late Rev. P. Walter Henckell. I'm 69 now, but his daughter Kay saved my life at our annual church picnic at Camp Allen from drowning in the swimming pool when I was 4 years old. Our daughter Katy Virginia is named after her and my mom. Have a blessed Advent and Christmas season!
La foto con tus nietos es toda una dulzura. Qué guapos son!!! Me encantó tu creatividad. Y cuando leo o veo a El Cascanueces ya me emociono 😊 besitos para toda la familia

Sorry for the generic comment but I wanted to let you all know that I have been and visited before I go to #1 son and girlfriend's for a late lunch. Stay safe and Happy belated WOYWW. Sarah
What a brilliant photo and you're just as I expected. It will be wonderful for you watching those two grow up. I don't have my own children but spent 33 years looking after other people's, all the good and the not so good at times! I always thought teaching was the best part of having children around, when the day was over and we'd all had enough I could send them home! Miss it lots. I love your card and enjoyed reading the sermon. Have a great weekend, Angela x

Hi, thank you for the visit. A great Christmas card and journal page. Love how you did the background . You look so relaxed and happy with your grandchildren. A belated happy WOYWW. Angela #4
I love Camp Allen! I've been there several times for SAES (School) and Iona (Priesthood) conferences. It's a blessed place!
I was in the education field for over 30 years serving as a teacher, a school administrator, and as a member of the Curriculum and Instruction department. I still work with children at our parochial school, but now as a Chaplain. Children are a joy to work with.

HI Arnoldo
I'm late getting 'round. Taking the holiday off made me lazy. LOL
Beautiful grandbabies. They are treasures.
Love the time you took to create that pretty nutcracker card. Paper Piecing is such a rewarding art.
Love the postcard. I'd never thought to use my postcard stamp in such a way. Thank you!
Creative Blessings!
