The Word of The Day Is... Time!

Hello!  ¡Hola!  It's hard to believe, but November 30, is the first day of the Advent season.  That's only about 2 weeks from now!  Advent is a penitential season observed in most Christian denominations, as a time of waiting and preparation for both the celebration of Jesus's birth at Christmas and the return of Christ at the Second Coming.

It's Christmas Time!
Just Add Ink #773 Sketch
The Card Concept #221{Give Thanks}
Try It On Tuesday - Get Ready For Christmas

Since Christmas is immediately after Advent, I'm getting ready by making cards to send out to family and friends.  I was loosely inspired by the Just Add Ink card sketch and the Card Concept color scheme.  I used the Feemkota Watch die set; the Sizzix's Tim Holtz Vintage Labels Thinlits set and Alterations Vintage Holiday embossing folder; an EK Success corner rounder punch; scraps of different color and patterned cardstock; red striped twine; adhesives; an Arteza calligraphy marker; and a Pentel Brush Sign Pigment marker.  (BTW, I was a Top Pick for Just Add Inkk #772 - humbled and honored!)
Ecclesiastes 3:1 Bible Art Journal Page
Art Journal Journey - A Moment In Time
Friday Face Off 11/14/25
Thursday Art and Dinner Date
My next project is an art journal page I did inspired by Ecclesiastes 3:1, as I whole heartedly believe that it's important to balance one's time to spend with family, friends, at work, time for yourself, and above all with the Lord.  I began by sketching a self-profile and writing the scripture, using the same markers as above.  Then, I used the same watch die as above; Sizzix Tim Holtz Bigz Gadget Gears and Big L Industrial Dies; postage stamps; ephemera; and adhesives to complete my collaged composition.  I finished the page by using a CodoHi layering stencil spotty design using a Tim Holtz Blending Tool and a Distress Ink Pad.
Talking about time, my birthday was this past week.  (I'll leave it up to you to guess how old I am - LOL!)  It was a blessed, but low key celebration, with the St. James Episcopal School's students singing Happy Birthday to me during our Chapel service; receiving a plethora of best wishes from family and friends via birthday cards, phone calls, texts, and social media posts; getting a few gifts; and a quiet dinner with my wife at the Gin House Jazz Club, here in Del Rio, Texas.  This is a delightful place located near a ford of the San Felipe Creek, at the historic Cassinelli Gin House, which was built circa 1903, by Italian Stonemason G. B. Cassinelli.

In closing, I'd like to leave you with a summary of my sermon for the upcoming 23rd Sunday, After Pentecost:

God is faithful, even when everything around us may be falling apart.  He will provide us with the strength, courage and wisdom to do whatever He is calling us to do.  Our job is to keep telling his truth—to keep living his truth— to keep spreading his truth.  For regardless of anything we possess, enjoy, or cherish in this world, it is God’s love, grace, mercy, blessings, and truth that matters the most.

Thank you for your visit!  ¡Gracias por tú visita!  Shalom!

I love the way you've used our sketch Arnoldo. Great texture and detail. Happy birthday too! Thanks for joining in with us at Just Add Ink.
Hullo Arnoldo, thanks so much for popping over i love your its TIME for Christmas card. The funny thing is we dont really know when it was, its not recorded and shepherds dont watch the sheep at night in winter over in Israel. However if the Lord really wanted us to know the date, He would've recorded it in His anchor of the Word of God. I think its because God is in the eternal He has not shared such thing as Jesus birthdate.
I loved your thought that God is faithful, for truly He is every single day, I would not cope withoutHis faithfulness.
I was busy doing the card inserts just before I came online. Want to get overseas ones done this weekend. Happy belated WOYWW and birthday too I think. 😉

First of all, happy belated birthday. It sounds like the perfect celebration. I also loved your Christmas card. It has a "cork"-like texture, which I love, especially with the red. The photos are all lovely too. Thanks for coming by my blog. The holidays are creeping up on us, aren't they?

Thank you for your comment on my blog so that I could find your blog! I admire your artistic creativity in making your cards and journal page. I have many art supplies but have not used many in years and need to begin to inspire my creativity again. Happy belated birthday. Thank you for your inspirational prayer.

Happy belated birthday, Arnoldo. The Gin House looks lovely - and so does your artwork. Advent had always been a wonderful time back in Germany, very different from here. Beautiful advent songs, the wreath and low key advent calendars, and most of all lovely concerts in the churches - Bach's Christmas Oratorio, his advent cantatas and, of course, Händel's Messiah. Listening to this music in our old churches was always something very special.

...first off, I wish you a belated birthday. No one loved the Christmas season better than my mother. In our house Christmas start the day after Thanksgiving and our tree came down sometime in January. We confused Advent and Christmas, but it was festive time secularly and religiously. She passed on her passion to me and I passed it on to our oldest daughter. Peace.

Good morning, Arnoldo
thank you for sharing your birthday with us. Belated Birthday Blessings.
That courtyard looks so inviting. I love the architecture there in TX.
Love all the layers on your Christmas card.
Did you know you can ink those label dies with Archival ink before cutting the shapes and you'll have a colored edge? I saw Tim do that technique and bought a pack of basic color archival minis.
Creative Blessings! ~ Kelly #15
Low key celebrations are my favorite. Happy belated birthday. I love your journal page to celebrate your birthday. That's a wonderful self portrait too. Thanks for joining Wendy's challenge. And I love all the details biut simplicity of your card too. It's even photographed beautifully with the glasses and the books. I hope you are enjoying your weekend. I love the journal page. It's simply beautiful and the Bible verse is a wonderful one. Such wise words, words that we should live by instead of wishing our days away. Thank you for visiting and happy birthday, Arnoldo!
Hi Arnoldo, happy belated birthday. Thanks for the lovely comment over at mine too. I am doing my best to get the Christmas cards made. Many people here in the Uk have stopped sending Christmas cards because of the cost of postage and it's very noticeable in the shops that there are fewer available to buy though obviously this is not a problem for me as I make my own but it's sad as there are many people who really look forward to receiving them and hearing from friends and relatives especially when you don't get chance to see them very often. Look forward to seeing more of your lovely art work. Hugs Angela xXx

Hi Arnolda! What a lovely birthday you had, and a lovely dinner too. So nice to be loved by so many people! I'm not a religious person, but more "spiritual", but I do like your "man's" take on a Christmas card and journal page! Wonderful! 🍂❤️Lindart#14

Hey Rev. Arnoldo, happy belated birthday! (I’ve stopped guessing how old others are at my age! Haha!) Yes, the Advent season is almost upon us. I’m so glad you made your own Christmas cards! Your card (that you displayed here) is very creative and beautiful. And I especially like the art journal page you made for Wendy’s November theme. You used a favorite Bible verse of mine which is perfect here! I'd like to wish you and yours a blessed Holiday season. Sincerely, Sharon
