#blessed

Hello!  ¡Hola!  I didn't get back home from my mother's until Monday, because I was helping my brother to get her home health care.  Hence, I played catch-up between church work, home chores, and playtime in my home-office/art-studio.

For my first project, I have a postcard inspired by Sunday Postcard Art - Arrows by Mandy.  (BTW, thanks for featuring my Owl.) For my base, I used an old Sonburn Brass Rubbings postcard. I used an old Stampers Anonymous Tim Holtz Arrows stencil; an old Sizzix Tim Holtz Honeycomb die; a Stampabilities Retro Van stamp; Faber-Castell Pitt Artist Pens; a Funcils Black Oil Marker; Tim Holtz Distress ink pads; assorted paper scraps; and Talens Opaque Watercolours.  I'm also submitting this to Neglected Stuff June 2026 Challenge and Addicted to Stamps & More Challenge #519 - Any Occasion.  I think the Dr. Seuss quote will make it a good graduation card.

I made this card for my grandson's, in celebration of the upcoming 250th Birthday of the USA.  With the Kreativ-Tanten Challenge #114 Sketch in mind, I used a Spellbinders Holiday Express die set, an old EK success star punch & an old Fiskars star punch for the train; a generic circle die, an old Sizzix Tim Holtz Stars strip embossing folder, an old Tim Holtz Design Rule, an old Tim Holtz pick, an old K&Company Americana Specialty Paper pad, & paper scraps for the background; and an old Martha Stewart red banner.  I am also submitting this too AAA Birthday Game #86-For Boys and Shopping Your Stash SOS576 Summertime.  The boys are young, but hopefully one of them will cherish the card in the future.

I actually did this illustration in my art journal last month, but forgot to post it.  It's a Chibi, "short" in Japanese, which is a mini version of anime and manga characters.  This is my 2nd attempt, based on a book by Yoai that I've been reading.  I used a marker to do the line drawing, and colored it with watercolors and colored pencils.  I am linking to Path of Positivity Ch#142 -Anything Goes, What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday #889/109 and Friday Face Off 6/19/26.

These last 2 pictures are fun discoveries.  The first picture is of a Mesquite Tree in our neighborhood park.  My wife and I walk there regularly, and were delighted to find this collection of mini bird houses hanging from it.  We don't know who painted them, but it seems like they were done by children.

The second picture is of a Texas Spotted Whiptail.  I found this lizard swimming in my pool, so I rescued it.  They usually scurry off when they see me, but this one was grateful, and let me take a picture of it.  I am linking these photos to Saturday Critters #653, My Sunday Best #486, and Mosaic Monday #193.

In closing, I want to leave you with a summary of the sermon I wrote for the Third Sunday after Pentecost:

Abraham and Sarah's story is often interpreted simply as God blessing them with a child at a late age.  However, truth be told, bad things happen to good people.  So perhaps the blessing wasn’t just conceiving Isaac, but God walking with them through their prior years of yearning.  So are we.  God is with us when we struggle and when we succeed.  God is with us when we laugh and when we cry.  God is with us as we pray in grief and as we make a joyful noise unto him. God’s presence is a blessing, not by necessarily changing our circumstances, but by accompanying us in them.  We are #blessed.

Thanks for visiting!  ¡Gracias por visitarme!  Please leave a comment, and I'll reciprocate, so we can get to know each other.

Shalom,
Arnoldo+

Health care for your parents sounds familiar, done that. Loving the new art work and the little lizard is so cute. I managed to escape from the cabin but right now it looks worse than before even though I have given more stuff away! Happy woyww, Angela x8x

Dear Arnoldo,
you've created some beautiful things again.
I was especially pleased that you were able to rescue the lizard! It reminds me of a family holiday almost 30 years ago in Tuscany – we had a swimming pool at the rented country house – and we had to rescue lizards from the water almost every day. Sometimes our help came too late.

All the best from Austria 🤗.

Sorting out health care can be time consuming. I know from personal experience. Hopefully it's all sorted now. I enjoy your artwork and cards but the star for me today is the photo of the lizard. Have a great week and happy WOYWW. Elizabeth #10

Hola, Arnoldo. Lovely sermon, I do wish I hadn’t had to wait till adulthood before I was taught the love of God instead of the fear of God. I think the Dr Seuss quote is perfect for a grad card, it is one of my favourite quotes anyway, sometimes it feels wistful. The little birdhouses are just charming, how can you not be cheered by the sight. Have a good week!
Praying for you and your family. Thank you for a summary of your sermon. Yes, God is with us all the time - we often forget that when things are going badly in our lives. Looking back - yes; He was there in my bad times and I did not know it.

God bless.

Happy Friday. Such a beautiful mix of creativity, family, nature, and faith. I love how every project has a story behind it, especially the handmade cards and the little bird houses. Your closing message about finding blessings in every season really touched me.
I had to smile your art today. I love the old VW bus postcard. Nicely done. And that older pad of Americana paper, well I had the same pad out and in use as I'm working on some patriotic art myself. And those birdhouses are great and the lizard is quite a handsome guy, isn'tnhe? The colors and stripes look like an art project for certain. Have a wonderful rest of your Friday and weekend ahead.
Love your art work and the bird houses hanging from the tree ~ and the gecko too ~ Hugs ^_^

Hi Arnoldo, I really like your first card. That is a VW van, right? I've always wished to have one and travel in it. Maybe one day we will do that - hopefully. The birdhouses in the mesquite tree are beautiful and it was heartwarming to read about the rescue of the Whiptail. What a beautiful lizard. I have many lizards in my garden, but they always run away when I get close by. A photo like the one you were able to take is simply gorgeous.

You are so creative with the cards. My fave this week is the America the Beautiful. Very nice indeed. That Mesquite tree with the bird houses is really a nice sight. I do like this lizard too. Thank you for sharing with FFO and have a very nice weekend.
Erika, I agree. These lizards, which can get to be almost a foot long, are quite handsome. My wife and I love having them live in our garden, as we know they help us keep the bug population under control.
Carola, the stamp has a peace sign instead of the VW emblem, but that's what it's supposed to be. One of my uncles had one, which was adapted into a camper, and used to take me camping in it. That's why I got the stamp, even though I'm not much of a stamper.

I hope everything is sorted out with the healthcare for your mother. It can be a stressful time. Sending extra prayers your way and lovely artwork. I do love the lizard you saved and really appreciate your prayers Rev. Arnoldo. Have a lovely Friday and a wonderful weekend! Many blessings your way!

all of your art is lovely today; i came to see the arrows postcard (loved it!) but enjoyed everything else as well -- especially the reminder that "God is with us when we struggle and when we succeed." i really like that whiptail, too! xo

What great cards. Isn’t it fun to use the “older stuff” that is waiting patiently? I hope the Home Health for your Mom works out well. We had its for Mom for a while, but with her dementia, it ended up being just one more task for me having to be there for each visit.
En Paz, Gene
I love those precious little bird houses...how delightful. And the sermon is perfect for me right now. I know God has walked with me through all of the sad times and is lifting me up now in happy times. I couldn't have made it without Him. I listen to You Raise me up on youtube every day of my life! Hugs, Diane

Hello Arnoldo,
Your artwork is wonderful. I like the card with the peace van. Awesome card for America's 250 birthday!
The bird houses are cute, I am sure they had fun decorating these bird houses. The Lizard is cute, a great critter. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Take care, have a great day and a happy weekend! PS, thank you for leaving me a comment.

Oh, I’ve been reading about all the things you get up to. The most important thing is family, provided it works out and you’ve got the energy for it. I also think it’s lovely that you managed to save the lizard. I remember lizards from my childhood; these days, they can only be found in certain habitats. It’s a real shame.

Thank you very much, dear Blogfriend, for sharing at MosaicMonday

Greetings by Heidrun

You have some amazing creations. And I love the little mini bird houses. So fun! Thankyou for the final message, enjoy your week. I am joining you at Mosaic Monday.

Happy far too hot, very late WOYWW
Love that tree of bird houses. Amazing and so cute.
Big fan of the Dr Seuss books here. Fab card too - you have been busy! The elderly-parents health care resonates with me - mine are in their 90s and it is a worry every day but they steadfastly refuse home help. {sigh}
Stay cool and see you again tomorrow LOL! Mary Anne (3)
The mini birdhouses look wonderful, and an amazing close-up of the lizard.

All the best Jan
Another lovely post. I really like the Mesquite tree! Thank you for taking part in the "My Sunday Best" meme.
