Doodles & Sketches & Lines, Oh My!

Last week I was on Spring Break, but although I had commitments and errands to take care of, I did have a little extra time to spend in my studio.  I worked on a couple of Resurrection Sunday projects to give to my daughters, but I can't post them yet.  My girls don't get on my blog often, but just in case - LOL!  Therefore, I am posting some doodles, sketches and scriptural lines that inspired me to work in my art journal, as well as a photograph I took this week.

Sunday Sketches
I did the art journal pages above in a truly intuitive manner.  The art journal pages in the first photograph were inspired by Biblical scriptures featured in Word Art Wednesday a few weeks back.  The art journal page in the second photograph was inspired by the upcoming celebration of Resurrection Sunday.  I basically just kept on adding details to the latter pages until I felt they were "finished."  The 20-minute sketch in the third photograph was inspired by a childhood photograph of Ross that his mother, who's a close friend of mine, posted on Facebook recently.  I added a Biblical verse that felt was appropriate and finished the page by adding a fodder detail I put together.

I took the photograph of Las Moras Springs last Tuesday during a field trip I took with my third grade students.  I work with a gifted and talented pull-out program, and the third grade unit is on biomes and ecosystems, so Las Moras Springs is the perfect environment for us to observe what we've been studying in living color.  The springs are only about 30 miles away from Del Rio, so it doesn't take long to get there.  This view reminded me of how blessed I am to live in a community where God's creations are literally in my backyard.  Distance is never an obstacle.

The last photograph is of a Zentangle piece I gave away during my Church's Lenten program.  My Church's Rector asked me to present "The Parable of the Hidden Treasure," found in Matthew 13:44-46.  Therefore, before my fellow Church members came in, I left the tile on one of the tables.  It was the perfect opener for my presentation, and it was fun to see the gentleman's expression when he found out it was for him to keep.  May his life be blessed as much as mine was when I worked on the tile.

I hope my doodles, sketches and lines bring as much peace into your life as they brought to me when I was working on them.  Thank you for stopping by.  Godspeed!

Great artwork in your doodle book. I wish the weather was as good here as you found in Texas. We have got wind and rain endless, and further north in the UK snow. When will winter end. Blessings to you. Francesca #107

I think 'He is Alive!' has to be my favourite here thought the Zentangle tile comes a close second.
the Las Moras Springs look beautiful & so green, it looks as if Spring has come in your part of the world. We have freezing rain with the possibility of snow. I'm curious to see what God is up to - we were going to put our house up for sale after Easter but that's not possible for it's not been sufficiently warm to work on the garden projects that we need to first.

Your sketches and journal work are always such an inspiration. I really like the first one as you illustrated the scriptures so beautifully. Also, I was surprised to see water near Del Rio. I guess I thought that area was a desert. Beautiful photo. I know those 3rd graders are getting a lot out of your teaching.
Thanks for linkig it Arnoldo!
Have a giid weekend!

Each piece is amazing and so full of love. I especially love "He is alive!".Just awesome. The story about the Zen tile is so touching, that act of giving after presenting your talk is wonderful. I know you made this gentleman's day, and may those same blessings come back to you too!

Oh I just love your work and sketches. You are very talented indeed and yes a specialist to say the very least, which is why I am going to ask "you" this question. But after I tell you how much I like the "He is King" piece. The colors just radiate off the page and into the atmosphere for those looking at it to enjoy! There is nothing like that experience...the healing of art color and I believe you captured His Love with this piece! Now, my question. Could you, Arnoldo, please tell me, how do you sharpen your pencils, specifically Prismas or Dewent. (I am afraid you are going to say with a blade, like my dad and grandfather did, but I am uncapable of doing - after trying several times!) Each time I sharpen, I get a broken pencil up inside the pencil and it wabbles (well that is an exaggeration - let's just say often enough that it is annoying.) I must say to you also that I very much appreciated your educated and intellectually stimulating comment you made on my work. That was a pleasure to read as it is something I can understand well and appreciate with great respect. Thank you. Samara Navi.
its taking a long time to get to the comment box,you have so many lovely comments, now I need to go back to the post to remember the image! very funny.nice photograph and like the doodles!
