Delightfully Dynamic Dream

Ever since I was a child, I dreamt of becoming an artist, so the first degree I earned was a Bachelor of Fine Arts.  Although I began my professional career in the Advertising art world, was the  sole proprietor of a small art business for a while, and still do occasional commissioned art work, I've never been able to fully realize that dream.  The reality of life and the responsibilities of being a parent, led me into the world of education.  The road to becoming a full time artist is very competitive and slow to achieve.  However, with God as my life journey's guide, I've earn an excellent reputation as an educator and am financially stable through my hard work.

Back in the early 1990's, a friend used to tell me, "You are a right brain person that was whipped into shape to become a left brain person."  She was referring to the now debunked lateralization theory about the creative right brain thinker versus the logical left  brain thinker.  However, I really have never given up my dream of becoming a full time artist.
As evidenced by this blog, I always have been an artist and will continue to be one until the day I die.  I incorporate my artistic abilities into everything I do, including my spiritual, family, and professional life.  It's the way I express my thoughts and feelings, so if I was ever deprived from doing so, it would negatively affect my being.

Therefore, I continue to sustain this delightfully dynamic dream of mine through my artwork, crafts, photography, and many other artistic expressions that I indulge myself in.  God willing, someday, my dream of financially supporting myself solely through my artwork will become a reality.  Thank you for accompanying me on my diverse artistic journey, as well as for your dazzling comments.

    Using the church bulletin as a background for this beautiful art showcasing a cross. I have looked at it long and hard just as if it was hanging in the art gallery. My husband, an architect is starting his second career in education--middle school math. We need more men in this field!!! Great artwork!

    It's definitely never to late. I have had the same dream but life gets in the way. Children, supporting my partner with his business. Now, at nearly 38 I am going back to school first to do Art & Design and hopefully next year to start a Fine Art degree. Exciting stuff but scary!

    I love your pieces. You have a way with color and layout. Yes, realizing our dreams of being artists is really a lot of work, but looks to me like you are making great strides to get there. Doing what you love is always a wonderful thing, and having goals is always important to help focus that effort.

    What a wonderful post! We are all on an artistic journey - and I think most of us have been squeezed into that left brained life. As artists, we can only truly reach our full potential when we are allowed to express ourselves! It took me most of my life to realize that who I was when I was in kindergarten is truly who I am!! Keep creating every day - and wonderful things will happen!!

    I so understand what you're saying. It's very hard to support yourself, let alone a family, with just your art. But needing to make art because it makes you feel good is what makes you a true artist. Keep going and never give it up!

    What a heartfelt post, with such gorgeous art! I think you would be surprised how doing art felt if it was a necessity. A very very small percentage has to do with creating and more to do with marketing. I know a few self sustaining artist and it's a difficult, often disappointing (with so many rejection) business! Yet a must for them to be happy. Creating with no pressure has a completely different feel to it. Sounds to me like you have the best of both worlds since you live a very artful life!! Not to diminish your dream, just sharing my perspective. Dream on my friend!!.... There is always retirement!
