In Christianity, You Are Either In, or You Are Out

Hello!  ¡Hola!  I'm posting a day earlier than usual this week, as our 2nd grandson is due soon.  I need to be ready to go.  God is good!

Happy Birthday #2, Elby!

What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday 848/68

Speaking of grandsons, I made a card for grandson #1, who will be 2 years old soon.  I used a couple of the Spellbinders Classic Pooh Cutting Dies sets; a Martha Stewart Birthday Party Hat punch; a We R Memory Keepers Frame Punch Board; a "numbers" embossing folder; various colors of card stock; a Bearly Art yellow blank card and envelope set; a pencil and stump for shading; and a Zig Cocoiro Letter Pen to write the sentiment.  It was so much fun making this card, so I hope he'll like it.

Critter Crazy Challenges #102

I also made a sympathy card for a dear friend that recently lost her mother.  I wanted something colorful and cheerful, in remembrance of her mother, who was a fun loving woman.  I used a generic tree embossing folder and dragon flies dies set; the Sizzix's Tim Holtz's Noted dies set; a Petal Point's Ancient Page Acid Free Permanent Dye Ink; Ranger's Tim Holtz Distress Ink Pads and Glossy Accents; a Pentel Brush Sign Pen; and Arteza Calligraphy Pens to write the sentiment.

I also want to share a mixed media collage I did, inspired by Asian Art.  I used a portrait of Dharma, a legendary Chinese figure.  I used bamboo brushes and red Sumi Ink, on a scrap of Sumi Art Paper, to draw him.  Then, I collaged him in on a page of a handmade art journal I made a while back, along with an origami butterfly I made, a Chinese stamp, and Chinese food stickers.  I finished it up by signing my last name in Katakana characters, using a Zig Cocoiro Letter Pen.

In closing, I'd like to leave you with a summary of the sermon I wrote for tomorrow, based on Luke 14:25-33, the Gospel reading for the 13th Sunday after Pentecost.

In Christianity, you are either in, or you are out.  Christianity is not a pick and choose affair.  It’s about setting new priorities.  So may we place God above all human relationships, including our own life.  May we carry the cross of Jesus and follow him.  And may we be ready to give up our possessions for Christ and others.

Please be sure and leave a comment, and I'll be sure to reciprocate.  Thank you for your visit!  ¡Gracias por su visita!

Well, your creativity has not wavered over the years. These are simply wonderful. OMGosh a 2 year old grandson. Now that really is a blessing. The cards are so beautiful and thoughtful. I really do like the the collage with the Chinese figure head. Again very creative.
Adorable cards, bet you're excited waiting for the new arrival. I lost my mum last year and I know how comforting it is when you know people care. Thank you lots for the lovely comment over at mine too. Sending hugs Angela xXx

Well hi!, Long time no see! Has your grandson number 2 arrived yet? Congratulations if he has.
The card for your other grandson is very cute. Perfect for a two-year-old.
I'm off to read your sermon now. (the order of service is very similar to our Anglican church back in the UK. I do miss the Anglican church.)
