All Aboard!

I have loved trains ever since I was a child - and this was way before Thomas the Train!  Growing up in Mexico, train travel was common for me as a child in the 60's.  In addition, I had an uncle who was a train conductor, so I got to travel with him on one occasion.  As a child, it made me feel very important.  Of course, I also had a couple of train sets that I played with all the time.  I could spend hours arranging my train tracks and creating scenarios along the way.  It was so much fun!  I love trains so much, that my wife gave me a miniature train set on our first Christmas after we married.  I'm not really a train hobbyist, but I do like to set it up around the Christmas tree.

As I mentioned in yesterday's post, I am participating in the CPS 5th Anniversary celebration.  For Day 2, Linda Beeson and Gina K Designs challenged us to use layout CPS #166 to design a new card.  As I was perusing through my materials to find something suitable, I found a Creative Imaginations' Lionel scrapbooking kit set that I bought last summer at a local Ross Department store.  The set included a jumbo strip sticker and a circular epoxy sticker that worked perfectly for the center of the layout.  I also remembered a rub-on steam train engine that I got with some other set.  (As I said, I love trains!)  I used my Fiskars circle ShapeTemplate and ShapeCutter to cut out the window on the background sheet, and then cut it in half with my guillotine paper cutter.  I also added a peach colored chipboard tag that I made, on which I wrote the phrase "All aboard!"  As a finishing touch, I edged everything with a blue stamping pad, before gluing down the elements.

This layout was a little more difficult technically to work with, but it was a lot of fun.  Thank you to all of you following my blog, and invite others to join it.  Blessings!

What a great card, loving seeing the masculine slant and what a great use of the CPS sketch too.
Thank you, Linda. I am honored to have you visit my blog. Blessings!
