I love Saturdays! I woke up around 7:30 am, took care of the dogs, and enjoyed a couple of cups of coffee with my wife - Life is good! Hope your morning was as good as mine.
Anyway, for the CPS 5th Anniversary Day 14 celebration, Keri Sereika and Flower Soft challenged their readers to use sketch CPS #45. It's a very simple layout, so it was perfect for me to work on during this lazy Saturday afternoon.
I used a kraft-colored note card, and stamped a border on the left hand side with a Martha Stewart pattern stamp and a VersaMark pad. I also wrote the word "rejoice" on the bottom right hand corner with a VersaMarker. I like the watermark effect you get with these inks. Then, I used a sheet from a DCWV - The Four Seasons stack to cut the 2 blocks. I layered them as per the sketch, but sandwiched a Recollections skeleton leaf between them. Next, I cut a slit on the spine to thread and wrap the ribbon band in place. Finally, I created the flowers for the focal point using various Flower Soft materials and Martha Stewart's crepe paper for the leaves. I also used a McGill Floral Fantasy punch, Hunt Painters, and a Fiskars ShapeCutter system for the oval mat. It was fun making the miniature focal point. I attached it to the card using dimensional foam dots. The blocks and mat were edged with a brown ColorBox ink pad.
Thank you for all your kind words and for choosing to follow my blog. It truly inspires me to continue to create. May your weekend be filled with blessings!
What I see here is a genuine classy!
I like so much your card! Congratulations! Wish you good luck!
I read your bio and had to comment. We spent a year in Del Rio while my husband was in pilot training...to bad you and I didn't have a chance to meet up and create together while we were there!!! LOL Small world!
