Here it is, my tag inspired by the techniques of Tim Holtz's 12 tags of 2012 - June! As usual I came up with my own design, but I have to admit this one took me through a creative labyrinth. I wanted to use the same combination of textures as Tim, which included a photo, metals, and textiles. Therefore, as per his suggestion, I dug into my stash of embellishments, trinkets and findings. After multiple twists and turns, I found what I felt was the right combination of elements.
I began by using Tim's technique on the background, except I used a different color scheme. As to the photograph, I used Prismacolor pencils instead, since I don't have the craft nib set yet. I am familiar with the colored pencil technique, and believe it works well. I matted the photo as per Tim's instructions and pasted it on my tag. As a tag topper, I used a black metal necklace finding that I inverted. I glued it down, and used two miniature heart brads to secure it in place. I put together a pendant with a miniature lavender tassel, metal bead, and a purple glass bead to attach to the topper, along with a strip of lavender plaid ribbon. (I distressed both textile items before attaching them.) As a decorative element, I taped a strip of black polka dotted Smash tape. I had a vintage black lace butterfly that I glued down and embellished with an Art-C metal jewel brad. As a finishing touch, I added a metal frame over the word stamped word "believe," and wrote the word "me" next to it.
Just as with any labyrinth, it was fun and exciting to work my way through this tag. Since Simon Says Stamp is challenging its readers to use texture, I'm entering this tag there as well. I can't wait to see all the other entries and leave some comments. I'd love to hear what you think about my tag and/or have you follow my blog. Blessings!
