S is for Schedule
My current schedule is overflowing with all sorts of professional and personal responsibilities. There's student testing to be done, School functions to attend, Church commitments to complete, personal development tasks to work on, and the list goes on and on. When my schedule is this full, I can easily feel overwhelmed, stressed, and anxious. Therefore, I need to make a conscious effort to relax and stay focused. I know I'm not the only one in this situation, so I decided to share some thoughts I find helpful.

First, although I always strive to do my best, I need to be aware that perfection is not always plausible. I need to remember Allan Lokos quote, "You cannot control the results, only your actions."

I need to make time to relax, even if it's just to reminisce on special moments. The words in Psalm 46:l0, are a good reminder."Be still, and know that I am God."

Finally, I need to remember Tecumseh's words, "When you rise in the morning, give thanks for the light, for your life, for your strength. Give thanks for your food and for the joy of living. If you see no reason to give thanks, the fault lies in yourself."
I hope you enjoyed my thoughts on dealing with hectic schedules, and would love to hear what you do. Anyway, I also want to thank all my followers, as well as everyone who took the time to leave a comment on my blog post last week. Peace! Paz! Shalom!

Wonderful artwork and post as always Arnoldo - even though you are so busy! Thank you very much for joining us at Art Journal Joureny and Moo Mania & More. That quote is so true!

We're in the midst of renovating right now and have taken little time for R&R recently. Looking forward to a visit with family soon. It will be great to spend a week with the kids.
ReplyDeleteI believe it was the theologian Reinhold Neibuhr who was once asked what he thought was the most beautiful prayer. He's said to have answered, "Thank you". I'm sure God doesn't hear that anywhere near enough.
So I say it now:
Thank you, God.
A truthful quote over there.Have a nice day.
ReplyDeleteI love the quote about controlling your actions not the results. This time of year is always so busy. I've never heard that quote and it is a good thing to remember. Beautiful pieces today. I hope you keep your stress levels down and manage to juggle all your tasks. :) Erika
ReplyDeleteGorgeous artwork.
ReplyDeleteThank you for joining us at MOO MANIA & MORE
Impressive piece of Art with a great message. Thank you for sharing with us at TioT.
ReplyDeleteYes Ardoldo, I have enjoyed your thoughts as well as your art. Seeing a butterfly swoop by is really a joyful moment. Is swoop what they do or perhaps glide is better? I have not posted for many weeks due to some rather severe health issues which are beginning to abate. I read Psalm 103 many times a day. Your post has has spoken to me very loudly. Thank you so much for posting this lovely creative art in the Word Art Wednesday Challenge #230-#231 - Anything Goes.
ReplyDeleteBlessings, Carole
Beautiful and thoughtful post.
ReplyDeleteAnd your painting is wonderful.
Blessings!
How true, Arnoldo. As the world around us tells us we are indispensable, we need to rush more and fit more into our days, etc., then it is even more important to do as the Psalmist tells and reminds us - to "Be still and know that I am God". He is there in the midst, behind, before, beside - it's up to us to allow ourselves to hear Him, and know His stillness in the chaos.
ReplyDeleteTake care. God bless.

Love your artwork Arnoldo and the meaningful quote. We have to be careful not to overcommit ourselves. Some commitments are necessary and unavoidable, yes, but you also have to be mindful of your own needs. Happy WOYWW! zsuzsa #37
ReplyDeleteWonderful creative work by you!
ReplyDeleteI like the thoughts you have shared.
We should be thankful for what we have!
That is a very pertinent thought for me at the moment as I seem to be running around in ever decreasing circles.....I need to prioritise what's important to me. Thank you for sharing. I also love that photo of you at the sea, what a great picture :-)

If you want something done well, give it to a busy person. Love your pictures today.

Beautiful photos and artwork, Arnoldo
ReplyDeleteThank you for your thoughts and the nice artworks you shared with us.
ReplyDeleteMaking Art is like meditation, like a prayer, time for stillness, time to be yourself. I wish you every day a piece of time to relax and to come to yourself. Take care of you and God bless you.
Greetings
Sabine
Arnoldo, I like the photo of the mature couple on the beach. It looks fabulous in B&W!

Wonderful post! I think we sometimes forget to just take time to breathe and relax when things are crazy. I know I had that problem before I stopped working. I got so that I felt as though I was beginning to lose myself. Thanks for sharing.

LOVE the photo of you and your wife...great position. LOVE the eyes on your journal pages...so unique! Great post too!
ReplyDeleteHi Arnoldo, when I was teaching full time I always found that everyone had their own priorities which were not always the same as mine so I would nod my head gracefully, complete the things which were a priority to me and then put the rest in an order which I considered feasible that way I stayed in control and everything got done as they always do despite what anyone else may think. Oh and keep smiling especially when others look worried they will think you are either very much in control or completely mad lol! Hope you have a great woyww and a happy crafty week too, Angela x 20
ReplyDeleteThoughtful post as usual. I did my post on the road this week on an iPad mini, and it is lacking. I will have to learn ho do posts from my iPad better. Nothing worked as normal. Oh, well, guess we all try to do too much! #62
ReplyDeleteIsn't it the truth - the days events and those coming up in the week can certainly get us overwhelmed - so thankful that Jesus gives us a peace that passes all understanding - thank you for slipping your art work in our challenge over at WAW - have a blessed week!
ReplyDeleteSuch a great post to remind us all the perfection is nigh on impossible, but do keep trying to do your best, no matter what. Love the black & white shot by your daughter - must be you and your wife! Love the shadows at play. I had a lovely surprise this afternoon...when taking my puppy to the park, I saw a swan family slowly paddling in the river near the tall reeds. I hopped out of the car and quietly got a few shots with my cellphone camera, but might go back with my "real" camera that has 40X telephoto to try and get better shots. What a beautiful sight! Made me happy yet sad...

Beautiful photo by the sea, thanks for sharing with us at Our Beautiful World!
ReplyDeleteI am feeling the same way. Right now I should be working on 4 different cards and a training document. I've already helped Todd plant tomato plants and baked brownies for a co workers birthday tomorrow. I'm getting tense just typing about it. Thank you for the advice. :-)

Alas, I am overscheduled. Tomorrow, I have a meeting AND a bat mitzvah. Obviously, I'm going to the latter. But still...
ReplyDeleteFabulous and well needed post, Arnoldo! thank you for sharing not only your thoughts on how to deal with what life throws at us, but for your lovely artwork! We love seeing your work at Anything But Cute, and happy you Celebrated Your Style with us again! Hugs! Sara Emily DT
ReplyDeletePS I go for a walk or sit on the porch swing and take a deep breath. I either pray or write a list or both!
That Lokos quote is so true and should bring us some relief from our anxiety! Nice work for the challenges this week!
ReplyDeleteThere are times in our lives when schedules and our plate becomes so full that our minds spin. I will remember these wise sayings. I hope you find peace and a pace that is satisfying to you.
ReplyDelete~~ Irene
Beautiful works, Arnoldo, in spite of having more to do than time to do it in. I love the quote from Tecumseh. The colored pencil and pen art: "Thank you for this moment" is very beautiful and an apt reminder to take each moment as it comes.
ReplyDeleteLovely art work and live is a 'full plate' for you ~ how blessed you are.
ReplyDeleteHappy Weekend to you ^_^
Such wise thoughts for a hectic schedule!
ReplyDeleteIt seems strange to say, but the best thing you can do when life gets hectic is to slow down, become conscious of, and enjoy each moment...
Thank you so much A.L. for the info about etagami cards ~ I am fascinated by them and fits my style which is gradually emerging as I paint ~ Need to paint!
ReplyDeleteHappy Weekend to you ~ ^_^
Hi Arnoldo! What a beautiful post. Beautiful artwork and beautiful words. Thank you for sharing it all! Happy PPF! Rasz
ReplyDeleteExpressive art and a thoughtful post. I understand how you feel. Being overwhelmed has become such a part of our daily life. It is true that we can only control our actions (even that may be hard sometimes). Not worrying about the outcomes is the best way to cope with stress. Again hard to do but worth trying, I think.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful post and artwork! <3
ReplyDeleteHello Arnoldo. As always you have created art and a post to settle the spirit and ease the mind. You inspire such peace and love..... hmmm maybe you should bottle it? LOL Oh I guess you do through your art. Thank you for this post. Enjoy your weekend.
ReplyDeleteThank you for these reminders and for sharing your lovely artwork! Thank you also for joining us at Try It On Tuesday! Chrisx
ReplyDeleteI am a perfectionist and it keeps me from completing a lot of projects on time. Some days I just feel like, "What's the use? Nothing is going to turn out right." I sometimes forget to stop long enough to get myself motivated before sitting down to the task at hand. Motivation doesn't always come easily or quickly, but it does come if we know when and where to look for it.
ReplyDeleteFantabulous artwork you have shared through this post. I really enjoy the green eyes on your face drawing and the sentiment is so very true. Awesome sauce details on the little town as well.
ReplyDeleteThanks for joining our "Celebrate Your Style" challenge at Anything But Cute and sharing in our Blogiversary party! Hugz. ~Niki DT
As always your wonderfully creative artwork not only fills my eyes, but makes me stop and think a bit. Thank you. Your artwork is just amazing.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing such meaningful quotes. What you've stated is so true. Sometimes we must make a conscious effort to slow down. We find a lot of happiness in Gratitude. Your art is looking awesome as always.
ReplyDeleteHappy Sunday
Great post, Arnoldo! Love your artwork! Yes, in the fast-paced world we live in nowadays, it is so important to take a moment to just 'breathe'. I find meditation helps me to relax and stay focused. I also try to practise an attitude of gratitude...it helps with perspective and focus too. I love that quote by Tecumseh!
ReplyDeleteHappy Sunday to you! :)
Beautifully written..so wise, done with grace! Again, love the quotes and scripture. I use," Let go and let god" as almost a mantra at times! It works in so many ways!

You found exactly the most beautiful quote for a busy schedule. I will note this into my schedule for the forthcoming week too. Many thanks for sharing it. And I love it how you have illustrated this helpful saying. The face of the young man and the city in the background looks amazing as well as the colorful medal. Have a good start tomorrow into the new week!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful and peaceful post Arnoldo...gorgeous art..love all of the quotes of wisdom..all so true and meaningful when life is hectic!
ReplyDeleteWonderful photograph too!
Happy Sunday Sketches

i either read a pointless book or I sleep when things are hectic :)
ReplyDeleteTime flies and it is so hectic indeed. It is the end of the school year here so we have tests and festivities and reports. Also we have given a house to a family of refugees from Syria and we have to help them settle down. Last week we had friends visiting and been shown around. It was hectic but happy!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing in Our Beautiful World. AriadnefromGreece!
Great doodling! Thanks so much for sharing with us at Anything But Cute.
ReplyDeleteThese creations are gorgeous. Love your use of Kraft base. We are blessed that you linked with our Challenge at Word Art Wednesday and inviting you to join us again in our current challenge. Leaving you with the encouragement from God's Word in Romans 15:5-6 which tells us, "May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you the same attitude of mind toward each other that Christ Jesus had, so that with one mind and one voice you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ." Have a great Memorial Day weekend.
