S is for Schedule

My current schedule is overflowing with all sorts of professional and personal responsibilities.  There's student testing to be done,   School functions to attend, Church commitments to complete, personal development tasks to work on, and the list goes on and on.  When my schedule is this full, I  can easily feel overwhelmed, stressed, and anxious.  Therefore, I need to make a conscious effort to relax and stay focused.  I know I'm not the only one in this situation, so I decided to share some thoughts I find helpful.

You Cannot Control The Results
Pencil, Micron Pens, Opaque Water Colors, and Colored Pencils
Anything But Cute Challenge #13 - Celebrate Your Style
Julia's (& Jan's) What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday #363
Kristine & Eva's Paint Party Friday Week 11 Year 6
Kim's Show Your Face - Head Positions
Alexandra's Sunday Sketches
First, although I always strive to do my best, I need to be aware that perfection is not always plausible.  I need to remember Allan Lokos quote, "You cannot control the results, only your actions."

Summer in Mustang Island, Texas
Casio Exilim Shot By My Daughter Edited by Me on iPhoto & Pixelmator
Ramona's Inspire Me Monday #228
ABC Wednesday - Letter S
Sue's Image-In-Ing
Our Beautiful World #147 ~ By the Sea
Moo- Mania - Water
I need to make time to relax, even if it's just to reminisce on special moments.  The words in Psalm 46:l0, are a good reminder."Be still, and know that I am God."

Thank You, Jesus!
Colored Pencils and Metallic Pen
Art Journal Journey- Journeys
Try It On Tuesday - Spots, Dots and Splashes
Karen's Word Art Wednesday #230-31
Finally, I need to remember Tecumseh's words, "When you rise in the morning, give thanks for the light, for your life, for your strength.  Give thanks for your food and for the joy of living.  If you see no reason to give thanks, the fault lies in yourself."

I hope you enjoyed my thoughts on dealing with hectic schedules, and would love to hear what you do.  Anyway, I also want to thank all my followers, as well as everyone who took the time to leave a comment on my blog post last week.  Peace!  Paz!  Shalom!

We're in the midst of renovating right now and have taken little time for R&R recently. Looking forward to a visit with family soon. It will be great to spend a week with the kids.
I believe it was the theologian Reinhold Neibuhr who was once asked what he thought was the most beautiful prayer. He's said to have answered, "Thank you". I'm sure God doesn't hear that anywhere near enough.
So I say it now:

Thank you, God.

A truthful quote over there.Have a nice day.
I love the quote about controlling your actions not the results. This time of year is always so busy. I've never heard that quote and it is a good thing to remember. Beautiful pieces today. I hope you keep your stress levels down and manage to juggle all your tasks. :) Erika

Yes Ardoldo, I have enjoyed your thoughts as well as your art. Seeing a butterfly swoop by is really a joyful moment. Is swoop what they do or perhaps glide is better? I have not posted for many weeks due to some rather severe health issues which are beginning to abate. I read Psalm 103 many times a day. Your post has has spoken to me very loudly. Thank you so much for posting this lovely creative art in the Word Art Wednesday Challenge #230-#231 - Anything Goes.
Blessings, Carole

How true, Arnoldo. As the world around us tells us we are indispensable, we need to rush more and fit more into our days, etc., then it is even more important to do as the Psalmist tells and reminds us - to "Be still and know that I am God". He is there in the midst, behind, before, beside - it's up to us to allow ourselves to hear Him, and know His stillness in the chaos.
Take care. God bless.

Love your artwork Arnoldo and the meaningful quote. We have to be careful not to overcommit ourselves. Some commitments are necessary and unavoidable, yes, but you also have to be mindful of your own needs. Happy WOYWW! zsuzsa #37

Making Art is like meditation, like a prayer, time for stillness, time to be yourself. I wish you every day a piece of time to relax and to come to yourself. Take care of you and God bless you.

Wonderful post! I think we sometimes forget to just take time to breathe and relax when things are crazy. I know I had that problem before I stopped working. I got so that I felt as though I was beginning to lose myself. Thanks for sharing.

LOVE the photo of you and your wife...great position. LOVE the eyes on your journal pages...so unique! Great post too!
Hi Arnoldo, when I was teaching full time I always found that everyone had their own priorities which were not always the same as mine so I would nod my head gracefully, complete the things which were a priority to me and then put the rest in an order which I considered feasible that way I stayed in control and everything got done as they always do despite what anyone else may think. Oh and keep smiling especially when others look worried they will think you are either very much in control or completely mad lol! Hope you have a great woyww and a happy crafty week too, Angela x 20

Isn't it the truth - the days events and those coming up in the week can certainly get us overwhelmed - so thankful that Jesus gives us a peace that passes all understanding - thank you for slipping your art work in our challenge over at WAW - have a blessed week!

Such a great post to remind us all the perfection is nigh on impossible, but do keep trying to do your best, no matter what. Love the black & white shot by your daughter - must be you and your wife! Love the shadows at play. I had a lovely surprise this afternoon...when taking my puppy to the park, I saw a swan family slowly paddling in the river near the tall reeds. I hopped out of the car and quietly got a few shots with my cellphone camera, but might go back with my "real" camera that has 40X telephoto to try and get better shots. What a beautiful sight! Made me happy yet sad...

I am feeling the same way. Right now I should be working on 4 different cards and a training document. I've already helped Todd plant tomato plants and baked brownies for a co workers birthday tomorrow. I'm getting tense just typing about it. Thank you for the advice. :-)

Beautiful works, Arnoldo, in spite of having more to do than time to do it in. I love the quote from Tecumseh. The colored pencil and pen art: "Thank you for this moment" is very beautiful and an apt reminder to take each moment as it comes.

Such wise thoughts for a hectic schedule!
It seems strange to say, but the best thing you can do when life gets hectic is to slow down, become conscious of, and enjoy each moment...

Expressive art and a thoughtful post. I understand how you feel. Being overwhelmed has become such a part of our daily life. It is true that we can only control our actions (even that may be hard sometimes). Not worrying about the outcomes is the best way to cope with stress. Again hard to do but worth trying, I think.

I am a perfectionist and it keeps me from completing a lot of projects on time. Some days I just feel like, "What's the use? Nothing is going to turn out right." I sometimes forget to stop long enough to get myself motivated before sitting down to the task at hand. Motivation doesn't always come easily or quickly, but it does come if we know when and where to look for it.
Fantabulous artwork you have shared through this post. I really enjoy the green eyes on your face drawing and the sentiment is so very true. Awesome sauce details on the little town as well.

Great post, Arnoldo! Love your artwork! Yes, in the fast-paced world we live in nowadays, it is so important to take a moment to just 'breathe'. I find meditation helps me to relax and stay focused. I also try to practise an attitude of gratitude...it helps with perspective and focus too. I love that quote by Tecumseh!

Happy Sunday to you! :)

You found exactly the most beautiful quote for a busy schedule. I will note this into my schedule for the forthcoming week too. Many thanks for sharing it. And I love it how you have illustrated this helpful saying. The face of the young man and the city in the background looks amazing as well as the colorful medal. Have a good start tomorrow into the new week!

These creations are gorgeous. Love your use of Kraft base. We are blessed that you linked with our Challenge at Word Art Wednesday and inviting you to join us again in our current challenge. Leaving you with the encouragement from God's Word in Romans 15:5-6 which tells us, "May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you the same attitude of mind toward each other that Christ Jesus had, so that with one mind and one voice you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ." Have a great Memorial Day weekend.
